Havdalah Ceremony
Atlantic Oakes by the Sea

Wedding Party

Both born in the state of New York, Bernie and Esther met in Cortland some 32 years ago. They both had a passion for art, music, and education. They honed these loves together and then passed them on to Heather, for which she is very grateful.

Mom Barbara has been progamming computers since “programming” meant “connecting ALUs together with wires.” Like mother, like son. Thanks, mom! :-)

How many dad’s start learning to hang-glide when they are 70? Well, this one did! We both hope we can remain as active as he is.

We are blessed to have a wonderful friend (and Hebrew teacher!) officiate our wedding. You can learn more about Natasha at http://www.natashashabat.com/.

Bethie is the HIP Heather has known the longest. Granted, she is her little sister. Hopefully Heather’s niece will come into the world in time to let Bethie come to the wedding. :)

HIP

Rach is Heather’s best friend. She is also the person who is to blame… we mean, has the honor of being responsible… for this whole wedding, really.

HIP

Bonnie was the first person to befriend Heather in Boston when she first moved here. She has been an invaluable resource both in helping Heather to find her way around the city and in establishing ties with the local Jewish community.

The best big brother a guy could ever have, we are happy to honor him in the most important day in our lives, despite some past history with Cheerios.

BIP

Len is as excellent a game player as he is a friend. Most recently, he has been kicking Barry’s butt at racquetball. Hint: Don’t bet against him.

BIP

Wes, Man of Many Talents. One of them is helping Barry make sense of this crazy world. If he lived closer than 3,000 miles away, Barry would be much more sane.

Places to Eat

Bar Harbor has a wide variety of restaurants and snack shops, every single one of which sells both lobster and blueberry in one form or another (consider what that means for an ice cream parlor). Here are some of the places we’ve been that we recommend for dinner. We’re sure we’ll be adding to this list as the summer progresses; not many places in Bar Harbor are open in January!

Lodging

We are staying at the Atlantic Oakes hotel. The wedding and reception will also be there. We have arranged for a full hot buffet breakfast to be included in the rate for all our guests staying at the hotel.

Getting There

  • By Air
    • Bangor International Airport (BGR), Bangor ME - Currently served by Northwest Airlines, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, US Airways, and Continental Airlines. Approximately a one hour drive (50 miles) away from Bar Harbor. Visit www.flybangor.com for more information.
