7/22/06: Greenfield to Watertown
After being woken up by Rory asking “Heather read me book?” we hung out with the CT’s. Rachel made us all very yummy omletts for breakfast, a new treat in the CT household since they only recently stopped being completely vegan.
We took some time to look at a map to think about a destination for the day and a tentative plan for the trip. We left around 3pm and drove to Watertown, NY, a favorite haunt of ours for the past 4 years. It was a rainy trip and Gretta (Heather’s car, named for Gretta Garbo) struggled with the hills due to the kayaks, a roof box, and a full, loaded trunk.
When we called to make reservations at our usual hotel in Watertown they were full so we had to find alternative housing. The hotel recommended the Westcott Beach State Park campsite at Sackets Harbor, only 10-15 minutes away. We lucked out and got a site on Lake Ontario.
Upon arrival, we set up our brand new spacious tent for the first time in the dark and the rain. We hoped that it was really waterproof!
Then, zzzzzz……
